Why am I running for office?

I am running for the Virginia House of Delegates for the 89th District in Norfolk as a Republican.  I am NOT a career politician.  I have spent the last 35+ years quietly supporting my family, building business, and creating jobs.  I am a third generation native of Hampton Roads and longtime resident of Norfolk.  I am guided by my faith in God, an entrepreneurial spirit, conservative values, and a resolute belief that Norfolk’s citizens deserve better; and we can do better.  If you elect me, I will work to make Norfolk more prosperous, create equal opportunities and continue to build Norfolk into one of the finest, safest and prosperous places to live in Virginia

I have mustered the courage to run for office because over the past decades Norfolk has fallen behind economically relative to our neighbors.  Virginia and Norfolk need policies and governance that will grow businesses in the region so that we can catch-up and thrive.  The Democrat Party policies of Norfolk's past have lead to concentrated poverty like the public housing projects they are now demolishing - and real estate business failures like MacArthur Mall they are now talking about tearing down.  In addition, I am running to address the extreme secular-progressive climate of our state-run educational system.  This is bad government and Norfolk deserves better!

The 89th District has been significantly impacted by Virginia’s budget and the COVID19 pandemic.  In addition, there is a significant number of private businesses, such as hotels, restaurants, breweries, hair salons, and private clubs that have also been heavily impacted by the state’s response to the COVID19 pandemic.  Norfolk’s public and private institutions are being tested - who leads the 89th District will make a profound difference in the future of this region

We must join together with a common purpose – because we need business-friendly solutions for both the private sector and public institutions in order to produce equitable successes.   We must create positive opportunities today and for generations to come.  I believe Democrat-led social justice reforms are decisive, dangerous and radical.  Democrat-led COVID-19 policies have enriched wealthy progressive billionaires while crushing our middle class and small business owners - some 200,000 restaurants and hotels may close across America – sadly many of them are black owned businesses.

With proven strategies of attracting capital, educated workers and lower taxes - Norfolk can capitalize on the forces of globalization and grow our domestic production and improve your employment prospects.  To address these and other problems, vote for Republicans down the ballot.

Virginia’s 89th District is home to roughly 80,000 residents.  Virginia’s 89th District is host to an enormous number of public institutions and facilities.  The 89th District hosts the Norfolk Circuit Court, Norfolk City municipal government offices, numerous Norfolk public and private schools, and Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA).  NRHA is a political subdivision of the State of Virginia.  NRHA and Norfolk citizens have invested hundreds of millions of dollars in publicly funded infrastructure, housing, and other facilities.  We are home to well over sixty houses of worship and religious institutions of all of faiths and denominations.

This District is the center of east coast commerce – it is host of the Virginia Port Authority Terminals, Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD), Norfolk Utilities, Norfolk Public Works and Norfolk Southern Lambert's Point Coal Transfer Terminal.  There are numerous large scale ship repair facilities, tugboat operations and other maritime industries.  We are home to Norfolk State University, Old Dominion University, Tidewater Community College and Eastern Virginia Medical School.  We are home to the region’s only Level One Trauma Center (Norfolk Sentara Hospital), the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, the State of Virginia’s only pediatric mental health hospital (coming soon) and the Tidewater Chief Medical Examiner’s office.

The 89th District is home to the region's largest collection of professional physicians, bankers, attorneys, accountants, and other public and private professional organizations providing healthcare, legal , banking, maritime and other support services to the region's citizens, businesses, and public institutions.

We are home to the United States District Court for the Eastern District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Norfolk Federal Building and NOAA.  We are home to the Norfolk Admirals hockey team, Norfolk Tides baseball team, Virginia Zoological Park, Nauticus, Battleship Wisconsin (WisKy), and the Chrysler Museum.  Norfolk is 339 years old, over the past 200 years, there has been a significant public investment into neighborhoods, roads, rail systems, highways, public parks, trails, civic centers, and recreational facilities.  We are also home to the Virginia Opera, Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Governor's School for the Arts, and numerous public and private art galleries that receive state support.  Norfolk is host to the largest group of Naval Facilities in the United States and the U.S. Headquarters of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

This has been a very tough time, with loved ones lost, jobs lost, and a country divided. What Norfolk needs now is NOT another left wing politician – or worse a politician from the same entrenched political familyDemocrats and government bureaucracy cannot lead the recovery, the heart of every Norfolk citizen will.  Political insiders and career politicians have failed Norfolk with divisive policies, wasted time, lost lives, lost jobs, and businesses closed.  Our basic freedoms and liberties have been challenged like never before. Together, we can build Norfolk back better with fresh ideas, shared values, and innovative solutions to reimagine Norfolk’s future.
