Commentary before Election Day
School achievement gaps produce discrimination. Class warfare now comes in the form of Critical Race Theory and Gender Identity Politics. Democrats hold the innocent responsible for bygone transgressions of past decades by exacting their rage on monuments and other icons of our rich history. Democrats are guilty of bigotry of low expectation by lowering educational standards for minorities – risking the future of our youth. Educational achievement gaps fall along socioeconomic and racial lines. Democrats evade debating systemic causes of these gaps and blame the gaps on economic inequality rather than the teachers’ unions that hold sway over how schools are administered, or curriculums are organized. Virginia’s educational system is built on unclear principles: to a lowering of the standards, ignore that every child can learn; to deny schools the flexibility to meet standards; to mislead the public in the measurement of progress and not insist upon results; to silence the whistle on failure; to prevent parent’s educational options, like charters and choice.
Education is the foundation on which a successful community is built. School achievement gaps create an impression of discrimination and intentional inequity. In Norfolk, the schools in our economically disadvantaged areas are poor performers and do receive the resources or attention to improve.
Today’s class warfare is fueled by Critical Race Theory and Gender Identity politics. All the while, the Democrats are blaming the innocent for bygone transgressions of past decades by exacting their rage on monuments and other icons of our rich history.
Democrats stoke the flames of bigotry by perpetuating low expectations by lowering educational standards for minorities---risking the future for all of our youth. Academic achievement gaps fall along socioeconomic and racial lines. Democrats choose to blame shortfalls on economics instead of the teachers’ unions who have exercised their growing influence over school administration, curriculum and organizational structure.
Success should not be realized by lowering expectations; success should be realized by improving our educational system to meet high expectations. Every child is capable, every child can learn and every child can be successful. In order to meet our children and their learning potential, we need to provide options like school choice, charter schools and vouchers. Parents should have a say in their child’s education and should be able to choose the best environment for their education.
A vote for me would allow us to build a public education system we all can be proud of----a system where children excel, are inspired and confident. With that type of community, we will attract business and more opportunities for our residents.
